About Yoga
The word "Yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root "Yuj", meaning "to join" or "to yoke" or "to unite" or "to connect". As per Yogic scriptures, the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, human and nature.
Sue's style of teaching predominately falls under the category of Hatha Yoga, although she has been influenced by Iyengar, Ashantga, Restorative, Yin, and Vinyasa styles as well. Sue believes that each person is unique in body, mind, spirit and soul, and therefore each person has different needs. Thus, by observing and listening to them as individuals, Sue looks to her students to be her guides while teaching. She is grateful to be able to offer many different asnas and options depending on the level of the student and what is most beneficial. Students come to Yoga for many different reasons, and Sue works to uniquely assist each student as they work to meet their specific intention.

Testimonials
"I have been taking yoga classes with Sue for several years. I first started because I wanted to get stronger after back and knee surgery. I enjoyed the classes and the wonderful people I met. I did get stronger and had much less pain. I had to take some time off because of a serious illness, but thanks to my practice I was able to recover quickly and come back to classes. I hope to continue as long as I can. I am over 70 years old, and feel that I continue to improve my balance and strength. Thank you Sue!" Carol, Oak Lawn
"I really appreciate the level of energy and passion Sue brings to her classes, this makes for a very worthwhile investment of time on my part. I've been attending Sue's Mindful Yoga for about 9 months, being a beginner (no yoga experience) I've needed a lot of help and extra attention to order to get things right. Sue's got this "no child left behind" attitude to make sure us beginners in the class can fit in and keep up with those who are more advanced. So if you are a beginner, come on in the water's fine, if you're more advanced I guarantee Sue can help you grow. Since working with Sue I've really seen an increase in strength, flexibility and balance...and I sleep a lot better too! Sue has a devoted following, the same people keep coming back for more and I'm glad to be part of this group." - Bill, Oak Lawn
“There are SO many great things about Sue! It is going on three years that I have been taking classes from Sue. I remain in her classes because I trust her. Sue is knowledgeable and is continually developing herself as a professional. Her enthusiasm for optimal health and wellness is evident in her instruction - her classes are consistent, but never the same. She combines new skills with previously learned skills in a creative and fun manner. Not only is she a great instructor who gives effective cues, Sue is funny, caring, and friendly, too – she is an extraordinary instructor. It is a rare find to have all these great qualities in one instructor – Sue is the whole package!” Debra, Evergreen Park
